Putting Instruction

Improving Your Golf Putt

Gold putting instruction was never top on my list. I don't know why exactly, it just seemed like my swing needed help, but not my putting. As I began developing and teaching my body-awareness lessons to help improve people's golf game, it became clear why - Putting requires a firm base and the ability to concentrate with and focus with the eyes. My skills in that area were already highly developed from using the Feldenkrais Method. The full-body golf swing was less so, and it took more effort and practice to develop.

Golf pros often to instill in their students the fundamental skill of keeping the body and head still while putting. Of course, just saying "keep still" rarely works. The movement of the eyes are largely unconscious to most people. We rarely, if ever, are aware of what is happening with our eyes when we run, walk, turn or putt and do a golf swing.

To accomplish the skill of using the head, body, and eyes effectively while putting. I have adapted a series of Feldenkrais body-awareness sessions. I break down the movement of the eyes, head and body into their component pieces while doing sessions. Once you have the differentiaed movements "in your body" your putting improves dramatically, because you don't have to "think" about what you are doing.

The putting golf instruction download is not available yet. But it should be up by November 1st.

In the meantime, someone is surely going to ask some standard questions, such as:

1) Where is the best place to get high-quality putting tips?
2) And what about putting lessons? Are there free lessons online?
3) What are the best putting training aids?

Questions noted. Information coming soon.
